Adams too good for Cuts batsmen
PHC 217
Willow Cuts 139
David Adams inspired PHC to an emphatic 78-run victory over Willow Cuts at Somerset Cricket Club with a devastating spell of spin bowling to give his side two wins in successive days against the same opponents.
Winning the Western Counties showdown the previous day, PHC seemed to have the psychological advantage throughout the match with veteran Adams ripping the heart out of the Cuts middle order to set up the win.
Adams took the ball midway through the Cuts innings and proceeded to snatch six wickets for 34 runs to all but end the game as a contest.
With Cuts at 46 for two, and Ryan Shepherd (28) and Deunte Darrell (9) at the crease, Adams sent the latter back to the pavilion in his second over to put the match back in the balance at 48 for three.
From this point on it was a steady procession of batsmen going to and from the pavilion with Shepherd being the only batsman to really trouble the scorecard.
Fittingly, Adams took the last wicket to end the match.
Dean Stephens and Hassan Durham each took one wicket apiece.
The spinner was allowed to produce his heroics after his team-mates put up a defendable total of 217, thanks to Dean Richards who carved out 77 during his time at the crease.
Ricardo Brangman jr. also got among the runs with a useful knock of 35 while Jason Anderson scored 29 to avenge his duck the day before.
Sherwin Hall took three wickets and George O'Brien jr. claimed two to restrict the visitors to gettable score but the total was too steep for Cuts to reach.
