percent increase in maintenance fees was unacceptable, the House of Assembly was told Friday.

And the club's operators were also rapped for failing to notify Government about the fee hike, Tourism Minister David Dodwell said.

Mr. Dodwell made the statements raised questions about the fee hikes saying he had heard several complaints about the proposed charges to be levied on timeshare owners.

But Mr. Dodwell assured Mr. Allen that Tourism had already taken action on the issue.

He said he was also concerned to learn of the 55 percent maintenance fee hike as well as a possible sale of the property.

Mr. Dodwell said he immediately contacted the company and told them they had not informed the Government about the maintenance fee, as they were required to do.

He added that he informed the company that giving the timeshare owners 18 days notice of the fee hike was unacceptable.

And Mr. Dodwell said he reminded them that any sale fell under the umbrella of the Companies Act.

Mr. Dodwell said he will meet with all the parties involved with the St.

George's Club this week.

"I want to see justification for the fees,'' he added.

But he expressed optimism that the matter could be resolved to everyone's satisfaction and promised to keep the House up to date on the issue.
