estate department, to join Leonard Gibbons Real Estate.

The firm's owner, Mr. Leonard Gibbons, said Mr. Sticca had been taken on in the rentals department, which was being expanded.

"Mr. Sticca will be doing appraisals and sales, as well as rentals,'' he said. "We're expanding to better service our rental clients for appraisals and sales.'' Despite the general malaise of Bermuda's property market, Mr. Gibbons said his company was finding that sales were not stagnant.

"Good properties are still selling, as long as they're properly priced,'' he said. "The rental market is more competitive these days, but we're quite successful in that area.'' Mr. Sticca worked at the Bermuda Commercial Bank for two years. From 1983 to 1990, he worked for Bermuda Realty, the Bank of Bermuda's property arm.

CAPTIVE SEMINAR CON Captive seminar Mr. Paul Watson, vice president of Mutual Risk Management, will be directing a Bermuda Insurance Institute seminar on rent-a-captives from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Princess Hotel on October 1.

"Bermuda, as the leading captive domicile, faces increasingly stiffer competition,'' course literature said.

"It is important that all of those people working in our industry have a good knowledge of the benefits that may be available to clients who are unable, or unwilling, to establish a `full blown' captive type of operation.'' The course objectives are to: compare single parent and rent-a-captive operations; Focus on the specific workings of a rent-a-captive; Assess its ability to provide features of a typical captive without the same level of commitment -- both time and capital outlay; and Discuss different rent-a-captive products available in Bermuda.

Bookings for the course, which will include other speakers, can be made through the BII.
