programmes that have either preserved or promoted historic buildings, lands, artifacts and places of beauty.

National Trust Conservation Officer Cathy Gosling said: "A great many people in Bermuda are involved in projects that support our goals. We know about lots of them, but by no means all of them so we ask the public for nominations.'' The annual awards recognise work in three categories: conservation activities, architecture and school programmes.

Groups who have made contributions to the Island's environmental or historic heritage are classed in the conservation activities section.

Last year the architectural award went to Dr. Delmont and Mrs. Marilyn Simmons for what the Trust described as "their sensitive restoration of Inwood Cottage''. This award does not discriminate against new projects over restorations.

The schools award according to the National Trust, "honours programmes in educational institutions that teach and promote the environmental goals of the Trust''.

Last year this prize went to East End Primary for creating a butterfly garden, a rainforest, numerous vegetable gardens and a nature reserve.

The National Trust is urging anyone with nominations to let them know before tomorrow.

Awards will be presented at the Trust's Annual General Meeting on May 27 at Warwick Academy.
