Host of new ponies to start season
recently imported trotting bred ponies scheduled to be feature.
Among them will be P/V Yemma Chane who is a black 12-year-old mare owned by Michael DeCosta who will be racing a number of new ponies out of his Inwood Stables.
Jandy's Desert Storm is an eight-year-old buckskin gelding trotter and is owned by Frances DeSilva of the Hang Um High Stables. Robert Lopes also has a new trotter which is a two-year-old black filly named Storm's-A-Coming. Arthur Hurst, Bill Booth and Bobby DeGraff will also each be bringing out a new pacer.
Also expected on the race track this season are three Bermuda breds owned by Edward Roque, Aaron Sims and Sinclair Furbert.
Meanwhile the leadership of the Driving Horse and Pony Club changed at their annual general meeting on Friday with David Lopes being elected new president, replacing Michael DeCosta who has stepped down after serving for 10 years.
Other results saw Bobby DeGraff elected the new vice-president and the new Judy Knight secretary. Returning as treasurer is Ellen Lopes.
Samantha Hayward is the new assistant secretary while Lucinda Edwards holds down the assistant treasurer position.
