Shockwave led the Newport Bermuda Race fleet across the finish line this morning, edging Bella Mente in a thrilling two-horse match race for line honors.
Silhouetted by the sunrise in the backdrop, George Sakellaris’ 72-foot Mini Maxi crossed the line at approximately 6.35am.
Bella Mente, with captain Hap Fauth at the helm, crossed the line seven minutes later to take second.
Third placed yacht, Caol ICA R, helmed by captain John Hildebrand, completed the 635-mile ocean race three hours later.
