Long jumper Tyrone Smith backed up his gold medal performance at the CAC Senior Championships by winning bronze at the Luzern Spitzen Leichtathletik Track meet in Switzerland.Smith’s jump of 8.06 metres, the same distance that won him the gold in Puerto Rico, was enough to earn him his second podium spot in the span of four days, with the eventual winner, Yahya Berrabah of Morocco, winning the event with a jump of 8.18m. Greg Rutherford from Great Britain leaped 8.09m to claim the silver. While his leap was good enough for him to grab gold, Smith was hoping to jump a bit further and hit the 8.10m mark.“Things are going pretty good right now, I’m on the trail to get as many quality jumps in as I can before the World Championships so things are sorting themselves out nicely,” said Smith.“I’m trying to sharpen things up for the Worlds, I am about to compete in Spain and hopefully that works out for me as well.
