Award honours Griffiths
Jerry Griffiths, who died last month.
Now the Council Partners Charitable Trust Award will be renamed the Jerry Griffiths Memorial Award.
Trust chairman Brian Duperrault said: "Jerry made such a powerful contribution to Bermuda. He was dedicated to our cause and will be greatly missed.
"This is a way of ensuring that we are regularly reminded of his commitment and continue to be inspired.'' Mr. Griffiths -- co-founder of Focus Counselling Services and a former columnist on the Mid-Ocean News, sister paper of The Royal Gazette -- died in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, of complications following a heart transplant.
The award is presented each year to a Bermuda resident who has made an "outstanding contribution'' to the fight against alcohol and drug abuse on Bermuda.
