Police investigate two armed robberies
Police are investigating an armed robbery when a taxi driver was set upon by four men wearing helmets with visors and brandishing knives.The incident happened at 11.3pm on Monday, in the area of Redkiln Road, Hamilton Parish.A Police spokesman said: “A taxi had just dropped off a fare when, upon leaving, the driver was set upon by four males wearing helmets with visors and brandishing knives.“The suspects demanded money and searched the interior of the taxi. Stolen were a cellphone and a quantity of cash. The taxi driver was not injured.“Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to contact the Eastern Criminal Investigations Unit at 293-2222 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.”In another incident at about 11pm on Monday, police responded to an incident near the Warwick Shell Service Station on South Road.The spokesman said: “It appears that four men on motorcycles forcibly stopped the victim who was also riding a motorcycle. The suspects were brandishing weapons one of which appeared to be a firearm.“The suspects then stole cash and a BlackBerry phone.
