Island pair help Tabor lift title

The Tabor Academy Varsity sailing team featuring two Bermudians lifted the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) Baker Trophy in Norfolk, Virginia, last weekend.Bermudian sailors Mackenzie Cooper and crew Conner Murphy took part in all three races during the regatta.The 12 schools attending had qualified for the Championships at regional regattas, representing 430 schools from seven regions across the United States.Sailing at the Old Dominion University sailing centre, the Seawolves posted an impressive ten wins and one loss record.The Tabor team included Nick Johnstone, Alex Jacob, Cooper, Murphy, Riley Calhoun, Doyle Calhoun, Sean Golden and Asa Smith and were coached by Rob Heard and Cindy Muther.This was Cooper’s second year attending the National Championships with the Tabor team. Bainbridge HS, WA (0-11)n Stevie Dickinson successfully defended his Flag Pole to Flag Pole title on Sunday, beating Gladwyn Lambert and Rockal Evans to take line honours.The race, from Hamilton to St. George’s, saw Dickinson and crew Pat Young, lead the race from start to finish, crossing the line in a time of two hours, 25 minutes.Lambert sailed with crew Greg Proctor while youngster Evans had Dimitri Stevens alongside.
