Endurance names former Axis executive as global insurance CEO
Endurance Specialty Holdings has recruited former Axis Insurance chief underwriting officer John (Jack) Kuhn to lead its global insurance operations.Mr Kuhn will start next week in his new role as chief executive officer, Global Insurance, responsible for Endurance’s US, Bermuda and International insurance operations.During his 26-year career in the insurance business, Mr Kuhn has served in multiple senior underwriting and management roles and he has built and led successful specialty insurance operations in the US and internationally. He will be based in Endurance’s Bermuda office, where his appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration.David Cash, CEO of Endurance, said: “Jack is a talented and respected insurance leader with a demonstrated ability to build great specialty businesses. He brings important experience and perspective to Endurance’s leadership team and we all look forward to working with Jack to grow Endurance’s insurance business into an industry leader.”Mr Kuhn added: “I am very excited to join Endurance and its leadership team and look forward to working with the many talented professionals at the company as we work to grow Endurance’s insurance business together with our business partners.”Mr Kuhn joins Endurance from Axis Capital where his most recent role was chief underwriting officer, Axis Insurance, responsible for the worldwide insurance operations and, prior to that, CEO, North American Division, Axis Insurance.He joined Axis in 2003 when the company acquired Kemper Insurance’s Financial Insurance Solutions business which Mr Kuhn had built as president of that business unit. Mr Kuhn started his insurance career at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, where he assumed increasing responsibility, culminating in the role of chief underwriting officer for Chubb/Executive Protection.
