The Royal Gazette Bermuda Stock Exchange Index gained 27.71 points or 1.25 percent yesterday to close at 2,243.53. A total of 88,424 shares worth $2,389,252 shares were traded.

The Bank of Bermuda gained $1 or 3.3 percent to close at $31 on volume of 1,610 shares.

On huge volume of 69,400 shares, the Bank of Butterfield remained unchanged at $32.

Bermuda Commercial Bank lost $0.40 or 5.7 percent to close at $6.60 on volume of 16,700 shares.

The only other issue to trade for the day was BF&M Ltd. which fell $0.50 or 4.5 percent to close at $10.50 on volume of 714 shares.
