Sexy and sophisticated? Moonlight is place to be

If you are looking for a fun, sexy and sophisticated way to bring in the New Year, one promotion company has the answer with a party that promises to be this year's best.

The people who brought you the Red, Pink and White parties, the Full Moon Party, last year's famed Masquerade (Black) Party and The Complex Party have done it again this year with Moonlight.

Unité along with Barmuvinjam.com present Moonlight, the place to be New Year's Eve if you are grown and sexy.

Moonlight will take place at Sapori Restaurant and poolside terrace as well as Grape Bay Hotel's convention room, outdoor terrace and lobby. This event will have five levels including two dance floors, a heated, tented poolside terrace, and two 'chill out' levels — basically a big, roaming house party.

From 7 to 10 p.m., guests will be treated to an open buffet under the stars in the tented, heated poolside terrace. Entertainment will be performed by "1Undred" Brian and Nic Swan for what promoters call a "live, eclectic, jazzy, house jam session" complete with a percussion set and African bongos.

Sapori the restaurant will be turned into a club were DJ's FRISKY from the Full Moon Beach parties with spin the hottest Dance and House music. There will also be go go dancers and a light show.

Upstairs in the Grape Bay convention room, D'General, Barmuvinjam's resident DJ will be playing the hottest Soca, Reggae, Hip-Hop and R&B tunes. Grape Bay's lobby and outdoor terrace will function as a more relaxed area for those who want to take it easy or relax with a loved one. Promoters say this is the best spot to view the fireworks later in the night.

Complimentary champagne will be handed out at midnight to toast in the new year. Canapés will be available all night along with a New Years Day buffet the following day.

Unité has arranged special rates for partygoers who wish to spend the night at the hotel. There are also a limited amount of advance bookings for VIP table service which requires a one bottle minimum order.

All parking will be at the Bermuda College with shuttles every ten minutes.

Unité event organiser Belcario Thomas spoke highly about the event.

"We try to attract a mature and diverse crowd of party people that respect and enjoy one another. It'll be an event mainly geared towards over 25's, it's not a stuffy party with a sit down meal and blah bland band and DJ, it's not really a jeans and t-shirt college party either. It's like a cool house party that you and friends of friends have been invited."

"We're expecting a lot of different friends from a wide cross section of people which is one of the best thing's about Unité parties — bringing people together. You're guaranteed to see a bunch of cool people, some of whom you've never seen before.

There'll be a lot of Europeans, Canadians, West Indians, and both black and white Bermudians.

Between the five levels, this party has enough room for about 700 people. Mr. Thomas is expecting Moonlight to sell out fast.

"This year we've linked up with successful friends and promoters Barmuvinjam who recently did a spate of parties at The Deep this summer and they're saying their membership base is really fired up and want to remind people they can get tickets via them."

Mr. Thomas also admitted that this will probably be the best party he has ever thrown.

"It should be a fantastic party celebrating the New Year and Bermuda's diversity of like minded people all the same, which as an Up With People Alumni, is my ultimate goal.

Just dress comfortably and if you wanna dance, mingle with a cocktail, eat good food, chill, it's all there for you".

Tickets are $140 and are available at Lemon Tree, and Unité and Barmuvinjam promoters. For group discounts or to reserve VIP tables, call 531-2905
