Jabulani's `Miss Daisy' still fresh at 80
Audiences have one more week to catch Elsbeth Gibson and Danjous Anderson star in Alfred Uhry's American classic, `Driving Miss Daisy', presented by the Jabulani Reperatory Company at the Hamilton Princess Hotel.
Ms Gibson, who celebrated her 80th birthday during the play's run in January, has just returned from an alumni reunion at the University of Washington in Seattle. Speaking before she left on her whirlwind trip, she said, "This is going to be rather special as I've been given to understand that I am their oldest professional who is still working!'' Commenting that the run of `Miss Daisy' has been "a wonderful experience'', Ms Gibson said she has been "overwhelmed'' by the number of friends and relations who have travelled from overseas to see her in the show.
"I had some old friends from the UK, my niece and her husband flew in from Seattle, my granddaughter came from California, as well as an old room-mate from New York, a former thespian colleague arrived from Boston and I have another old friend and colleague who's coming in this week from Florida.'' Explaining that Jabulani Repertory Company is now reverting to its summer schedule, producer Dusty Hind said, "Commencing Wednesday (yesterday), we will be playing four nights a week, so that we can accommodate increased numbers of tourists and people off the cruise ships. I'd also like to point out that, with `Harbour Nights' in full swing again, people just have to walk up the road and round off a nice evening with a show.'' Also on show at the Princess is Noel Coward's classic comedy `Private Lives', with one of America's top comedies, `The Odd Couple' due to open shortly.
