Selective memory?
December 6, 2012Dear Sir,I was stunned and disappointed to read in today’s edition of The Royal Gazette that Vincent Ingham, when referring to employers and business in Bermuda, stated “they have no social conscience and they are acting for their own interests”. Would these be the exact same employers and businesses whom Mr Ingham, in his capacity as chairman of the Warwick Academy Capital Campaign, approached to request funds for the further development of Warwick Academy? Mr Ingham is also aware that such approaches were made to both local and exempted companies, along with many parents and alumni, all of whom have very generously supported the Capital Campaign. How can the education of Bermuda’s young people not be more socially conscious than that? Mr Ingham clearly has a very selective memory. I also note that in a recent publication of his biography, standing as a candidate for the Progressive Labour Party in Constituency 19, there was absolutely no mention of Mr Ingham’s service as chairman of Warwick Academy Board of Governors, a role he held for many years, followed by his role as chair of the Capital Campaign. Was this airbrushed out of his biography, simply an oversight or another example of selective memory?RICHARD KEANEWarwick
