A convicted sex offender yesterday admitted making a child touch him sexually on two occasions.Andwele White, 36, pleaded guilty to two counts of touching a minor with a sexual purpose between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011.The offences came to light last March, when the nine-year-old victim told her mother that White had placed her hand on his genitals on several occasions.Each offence took place in White’s home on Fenton’s Drive in Pembroke.Officers arrested White at his job on April 4. In a subsequent police interview, he denied the offences.His trial was set to begin in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, but he instead chose to admit the offence.White was convicted in 2006 of having unlawful carnal knowledge after impregnating a 14-year-old girl. On that occasion, he was sentenced to three years in prison.Defence lawyer Oonagh Vaucrosson asked the court for lenience in the case, noting that White’s plea meant that the victim did not have to take the stand.“While he is very remorseful for what happened, I will have to admit he probably needs some strong advice and guidance from an agency in terms of going forward,” Ms Vaucrosson said.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered psychiatric and social inquiry reports and remanded White into custody until his sentencing in April.His is the second conviction for a sexual offence this year.Dwayne David Beach was convicted in January, after he admitted sexually assaulting and intruding on the privacy of a 16-year-old girl.That matter was committed to the Supreme Court for sentencing after Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner declared the sentencing powers of Magistrates’ Court insufficient for the case. Two men have been sentenced this year for sexual offences.Raymond Kidd, 20, was sentenced to 24 years on January 11 for serious sexual assault and aggravated burglary.A senior citizen was jailed for four years on January 23 for sexually abusing his adopted daughter.
