According to the Salvation Army's Divisional Commander Alfred Richardson the committee should be reporting its findings next month when a decision will be taken.

"It is looking at possible uses for the church and will report to me next month when it has finished its work,'' said Major Richardson.

The church was closed following a review of the Salvation Army's operations.

The review recommended the closure of the church which it said was not financially solvent.

MAN CHARGED WITH SEX ATTACK ON BOY CTS Man charged with sex attack on boy A man was not required to enter a plea when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with three counts of serious sexual assault of a young boy under the age of 14.

The man who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear in court on January 24 for mention.

He was charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of having unlawful carnal knowledge of the boy and unlawfully detaining him against his will on January 6.

The man was represented by lawyer Keren Lomas. Crown counsel Leighton Rochester appeared for the prosecution.

TCD CLERK SPORT BOGUS DRIVING LICENCE CTS TCD clerk spots bogus driving licence Police are investigating a case of suspected fraud after an alert transport clerk spotted a forged driver's licence.

The clerk at the Transport Control Department discovered two driver's licences bearing the same name -- but with two different photographs.

According to the Police the clerk knew the name and realised the person was off the Island at school and alerted the Police.

It is thought that one of the licences has been used in the past to commit a number of cheque forgeries.

Police are investigating.

POSSESSION OF POT COSTS MAN $200 CTS Possession of pot costs man $200 Possessing half a gram of cannabis cost a 24-year-old Paget man $200 yesterday.

Roy Correia, of Rural Hill, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to possessing cannabis on September 19 in Pembroke.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Police observed a van driving into the Ducking Stool Park on North Shore Road in Pembroke shortly after 10.45 a.m.

Officer saw two people making what appeared to be a transaction, he added.

Police followed the van, stopped it by the Tynes Bay incinerator area and searched the passenger (Correia) and driver.

Police found the cannabis in Correia's shorts.

Correia, he said, had two previous drug convictions. On December 1995 he was ordered to pay $250 for possessing cannabis and in July 1995 he was fined $125 for cultivating cannabis.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered Correia, who had nothing to say to the court, to pay a $200 fine.

POLICE INVESTIGATING PAIR OF ASSAULTS CTS Police investigating pair of assaults Two reports of assaults -- involving a young woman and an employer, are being investigated by Police.

A 20-year-old Warwick woman told Police that at about 1.30 p.m. on Thursday she was punched by her ex-boyfriend.

The woman told Police she went looking for her ex-boyfriend to talk about some personal business and he punched her, leaving a small mark on her face.

Police say a 23-year-old Smith's Parish man is expected to help them with their investigations into the matter, which happened on Angle Street.

Meanwhile, Police are also investigating a report that an employer was assaulted by an employee during an argument, leaving him with a chipped tooth.

The employer reported the incident, which took place between 3 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. on Thursday, when he called at the Hamilton Police Station.

IMPAIRED DRIVER ALLOWED HIS LICENCE CTS Impaired driver allowed his licence A self-employed landscaper was yesterday allowed to keep his light-truck licence after admitting driving while impaired.

Ronald Denbrook, of Suffering Lane, St. George's, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving along Kindley Field Road, St. George's while impaired on December 20.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Police were on patrol when they spotted Denbrook's car cross the centre line.

Upon stopping the car, Denbrook admitted he'd "had a few''.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis allowed Denbrook to remain on the road after hearing that he was a self-employed landscaper who needed a licence to drive himself to various jobs.

Instead of a fine and a year's disqualification from all vehicles, Mr. Francis ordered Denbrook to pay a $500 fine and banned him from driving all private cars for two years.

WITNESSES TO ROAD ACCIDENT SOUGHT AC Witnesses to road accident sought Police are appealing for witnesses to a road accident yesterday morning in which a 50-year-old Southampton woman was injured.

The accident happened just before 2.30 a.m. at the junction of Dundonald Street and Princess Street.

When officers arrived they found the woman lying on her back in the road complaining of severe back pain. Her red Peugeot motorbike, which was extensively damaged, was lying next to her.

The woman was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Police on 295-0011.

THIEVES HIT BUILDING SITE FOR WINDOWS CRM Thieves hit building site for windows Thieves stole windows, doors and door frames valued at more than $5,000 from a building site.

A 30-year-old Hamilton Parish man told Police that sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning someone broke into a building site, also in Hamilton Parish.

Ten windows, three doors and two door frames were stolen and anyone with information is asked to contact the Police at Eastern CID on 297-1122.

MAN NABBED WITH MACHETE, COCAINE CTS Man nabbed with machete, cocaine A 23-year-old Pembroke man is expected to appear in court after he was found carrying a substance believed to be cocaine and a machete.

Narcotics officers arrested the person after a search on Thursday afternoon when they found a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine as well as the machete hidden in his clothes.

Police took him to Hamilton Police Station where he was interviewed and bailed until a court appearance.
