Extradition hearing for alleged child porn offender

A 29-year-old man is to face an extradition hearing after he was charged with child pornography offences in the United States.

Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday that the man, from Devonshire, was charged with one count each of possession and receiving child pornography. Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe imposed a ban on publication of the man’s identity.

Mr Wolffe released the man on $25,000 bail.

He ordered the man stay at a specific address, stick to a 6pm to 6am curfew and wear an electronic tag as soon as one became available.

The man was also ordered to hand over his passport and to not apply for any other travel documents and stay at least 100 yards away from any place with the potential for international travel, such as ports and the airport.

Mr Wolffe adjourned the case until October 23, with the extradition hearing expected to be held on November 23.
