US Police look for reporter

Gazette , Martin Gould, after charges were filed accusing him of trying to force a car carrying a member of the Kennedy dynasty and her three children to stop for a photograph.

The alleged incident involved Victoria Kennedy, the estranged wife of Michael Kennedy, son of assassinated Senator Robert Kennedy.

Photographers have staked out the family's home since authorities began investigating allegations that Kennedy had an affair with the family's underage baby sitter.

Mrs. Kennedy, 39, is seeking a divorce. She also has a famous father: sportscaster Frank Gifford.

Police said they were looking for Mr. Gould, who identified himself on Tuesday as an employee of the supermarket tabloid magazine, Tarrytown, New York-based The Star Magazine, after being pulled over for speeding.

Additional charges were filed today accusing Mr. Gould of using his car to assault Mrs. Kennedy, a sister-in-law and two other people who tried to help Mrs. Kennedy escape from Mr. Gould on Tuesday.

Police said Mr. Gould was also charged with driving to endanger, speeding and failing to stop for a police officer.

Mr. Gould, 41, who is English, worked for The Royal Gazette in the 1980s and later for the magazine Bermuda Business.

Authorities said Mr. Gould and a passenger began pursuing Mrs. Kennedy's car outside her Cohasset home on Tuesday. Her three children were in the back of the car, and her sister-in-law Rory Kennedy was also with her.

Mrs. Kennedy "was just trying to get away from them'', said Cohasset police Officer Lawrence Ainslie Jr. "It's out of hand, to say the least.'' At one point, Mrs. Kennedy stopped to seek help from two landscapers, Ainslie said. Mr. Gould's car bumped one of the men, who rolled onto the car's hood, and the other man jumped out of the way, Police said.

Mrs. Kennedy then stopped at the Hingham Police Station.

"She was almost into tears, frightened,'' said Officer Kris Phillips, who pursued Mr. Gould's car.

The car stopped after a brief chase at speeds of up to 50 mph through an area of homes, businesses and a school where the speed limit is 30 mph.

"It was rush hour,'' Phillips said. "They could have gotten any of a number of people hurt -- all for a picture.'' Neither man was arrested during the speeding stop, but after talking with Mrs.

Kennedy and Rory Kennedy this morning, Police filed additional assault charges and a warrant was issued for Mr. Gould's arrest, Sgt. Taylor Mills said.

Magazine bosses did not return calls from the Press yesterday.
