Western Stars 90 all outSt David’s 91-4League champions St David’s made easy work of 10-men Western Stars at Lords, beating the visitors by five wickets on a day that saw only two of the scheduled four Logic Knockout Championship matches take place on Sunday.Stars, who won the toss, were dismissed in 31 overs with only captain and opener Nyon Steede reaching double figures with 42 not out which included seven fours.The next highest contribution to the Stars total were the 23 extras as Rudell Pitcher claimed four for 22 from 10 overs and Delyone Borden two for five off his one over which ended the Stars innings.Sammy Robinson and Ricky Foggo both took one wicket for St David’s.The reshuffled St David’s batting order reached their target in just 15.4 overs as George O’Brien, batting at number three, hit two sixes and three fours in his knock of 32 while opener McLaren Lowe scored 28.The pair added 42 for the second wicket after Ajuan Lambe was dismissed with the score on 18. Four Stars bowlers took a wicket each, with Swayne Campbell giving up nine runs, Brian Hall 14 and Ray Butterfield 19. Seth Campbell conceded 48 runs off eight overs for his one wicket.St George’s 88 all outCleveland 92-2Depleted St George’s were no match for Cleveland in a match between the fourth and fifth-placed teams at Wellington Oval as Cleveland needed just 6.4 overs to reach their target.Ten-man St George’s were without half their regular players, including captain Oronde Bascome, his brother Onias, Christian Burgess and Zeko Burgess who have returned to England, and were in immediate trouble in a match that did not start until 2.40 and was reduced to a 30-over contest.Shakai Darrell was the main wicket-taker for Cleveland as St Geroge’s were 32-5 after just seven overs after winning the toss and opting to bat.Captain Macai Simmons, batting at number six, led the St George’s batting with 32 including three fours and three sixes while opener Jonathan Denbrook scored 17 and club president Neil Paynter 12 in the tailend with three fours.Darrell claimed five for 29 from six overs and Treadwell Gibbons two for 15 as St George’s were dismissed in 15.1 overs.Cleveland wasted no time reaching their target, scoring 38 off the first two overs with Allan Douglas scoring 22 and Gibbons 39 not out including four fours and three sixes.Akeem Trott took two for 52 from 3.4 overs as Gibbons ended the match with a straight six off Trott.The two other scheduled matches were not played with Somerset failing to field a team for their game with Southampton Rangers at Southampton Oval while the match between Willow Cuts and Bailey’s Bay was not played at White Hill because the wicket was not prepared.In the Logic Plate match, Warwick beat PHC by 11 runs at PHC Field.Warwick scored 107 with Lionel Cann hitting 47 and then claiming five for 24 as PHC replied with 96 all out.
