Saltus end season undefeated
Saltus Grammar School's senior football team completed a successful tour to Toronto with a convincing 4-0 win against Appleby College.
Alex White grabbed two first half goals to put the team in a commanding position. Second half goals from Dante Leverock (penalty) and Terryn Fray rounded the game out.
The team started on a faltering note on Friday morning with a 3-2 loss to Holy Trinity.
Although enjoying the lion's share of the game a combination of silly defensive lapses and poor finishing conspired to result in defeat.
Daniel Andrade and Dante Leverock were the goal scorers.
The team then played Upper Canada College on Friday afternoon.
A goal-fest saw the Pembroke side edge their opponents 4-3. Goals scorers were: Michael Armstrong, Dante Leverock, Daniel Andrade, and Rakeem DeShields.
A cold and wet Saturday morning saw Saltus pitted against Oakville FC.
A very well contested game in which the Bermuda side played a tight defensive formation finished with Saltus tipping the balance to win 1-0.
Terryn Fray knocked in the winner.
The weather remained the same for the afternoon game against Concord FC (St Catherines).
The game was played at the large field of Ridley College; and the Saltus boys did well to overcome tired legs to grab a 1-1 draw against physically stronger opponents. Dante leverock rifled home the tying goal late in the first half.
After a grueling two days play the final performance against Appleby was even more notable.
The Saltus staff accompanying the team were their coach Jon Beard, and Head of PE Tim Figureido.
The Saltus team had finished the league season in Bermuda undefeated.
