Bermuda-based Wrenford Insurance Company Ltd. marked its 30th anniversary with the funding of a new scholarship to assist students studying for a career in Bermuda's insurance industry.

Wrenford is a subsidiary of auto parts supplier Dana Corporation of Toledo, Ohio.

The Wrenford Scholarship is worth $5,000 a year and is open to students entering their junior or senior year. It is administered by the Bermuda Foundation For Insurance Studies.

Dennis Bennice, president of Wrenford, said: "We wanted to mark this anniversary in a meaningful manner and felt that establishing a scholarship in the name of Wrenford which would assist young Bermudians planning careers in the insurance industry would create something which would continue to make an impact.

"The fact that a well-established organisation like the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies is on hand to administer our scholarship alongside with their scholarships made the decision even easier to make."

The 2005 winner of the Wrenford Scholarship, Rashida Ming, is a senior at the New England Institute of Technology where she is studying business management.

Kathleen Bibbings, vice president and general manager of Wrenford said: "We are delighted to be supporting Rashida in her final year.

"She is a single mother who is clearly focused on her goals and we feel she will not only be an asset to the industry but also to the community.

"Although she is studying Business Management, she is already focused on gaining a foothold in the insurance industry when she graduates."
