Manchester City's 4-0 win over Crewe Alexander on Saturday.

And though the Bermudian striker couldn't add to his 27 goals, he did have a hand in three of the team's goals as they turned a 1-0 half-time lead into a comfortable victory with Paul Dickov netting twice.

With Barnsley only able to draw 2-2 at home to West Bromwich Albion -- the same team that held fellow promotion contenders Ipswich to a draw in midweek -- City are now three points clear of both Barnsley and Ipswich with five matches remaining.

City also have a superior goal difference over their two rivals as the three clubs battle for the second automatic promotion spot behind runaway leaders Charlton.

Meanwhile, Kyle Lightbourne's Stoke City kept up their hopes of a play-off spot in the Second Division, winning 1-0 on Saturday against Brentford to hold down sixth place.

The goal came in the first half through Peter Thorne. Lightbourne played the entire match, increasing his chances of playing in the Auto Windscreens Shield final next Sunday against Bristol City.
