Breaking News: Former airport employee pleads guilty to boarding AA plane
A 31-year-old former airport employee was remanded in custody for two weeks for a psychological assessment after he admitted illegally entering an aeroplane.
Lorenzo Lottimore, from Rockland Road, Sandys, pleaded guilty today in Magistrates’ Court to trespassing and illegally boarding an American Airlines aeroplane on Tuesday at 3.35 am..
The court heard that Lottimore told Police he boarded the American Airways plane, bound for New York, because he wanted to look at data that helps guide a plane to landing. Lottimore is a trained aeroplane mechanic and is licenced to fly small planes.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Lottimore for two weeks so a Social Inquiry Report and a Psychological assessment can be carried out.
After the incident, the airport was put on lockdown and Police, bomb squad and the fire service were called to the airport. Two AA flights were searched and not given the all clear to take off for hours, leading to lengthy delays.
