Insurer ACE promotes four
Janet Deer Osborne has risen to the post of assistant vice president, aviation; Peter Pilawa to assistant vice president, property; Gary Burnet to assistant vice president, investments; and Karen Bucher to the newly established position of assistant vice president, casualty.

Ms. Deer Osborne, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a chartered insurer, joined ACE in the Aviation division in March, 1996, as an Assistant Underwriter and in September, 1998, was promoted to Underwriter in the Aviation Division.
She has just successfully completed the final part of the Insurance Institute of America course securing an Associate in Management designation.
Mr. Pilawa joined the Westchester Fire Insurance Company in 1996 as a senior property underwriter. Westchester Fire became a part of ACE USA when the Westchester SpecialtyGroup was acquired by ACE Limited in January, 1998, and he was transferred to ACE Bermuda in October, 1998, to assist with the establishment of business opportunities among the ACE Group of Companies and between ACE USA and ACE Bermuda.
Mr. Burnet, a Chartered Accountant who is currently preparing for the CFA Level Two exams, joined ACE in April, 1998, as Senior Investment Accountant after leaving Cooper and Lines where he held the post of Senior Auditor.
Mrs. Bucher, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, brings over 20 years' experience in the insurance industry to her new position of assistant vice president, casualty.
She joined ACE Bermuda in August 1997 as Marketing Manager and was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Marketing in August 1998.
Her new responsibilities include managing and underwriting Punitive Damages cover for existing ACE USA clients and managing the inward and outward reinsurance for the division.
She is the Chairperson of the Bermuda Insurance Institute Education Committee and is also an active member of its Council.
