Bermuda National Gallery Impressions of Bermuda: The David L White Gift to the Bermuda National Gallery celebrates the gift of 51 paintings from the gallery’s Chairman Emeritus, Trustee and ambassador for the arts. On display in the Ondaatje Wing are 46 paintings of the 77 works of art donated by Mr White. The Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Bermuda Art features 21 artists working in various medium. Both exhibitions run until November 24. On October 20, The Bermuda National Gallery in collaboration with Bacardi Limited will be hosting ‘The Art of Music’ an evening of operatic arias and songs with renown American soprano Laura Aika. The event will take place on the lawn of Bacardi Limited from 7pm until 10pm. Tickets are available at www.bdatix.bm. Tours are offered each Thursday at 10:30am with a docent/ gallery guide. The gallery, located on the second floor of the City Hall & Arts Centre, is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm; Saturday 10am to 2pm; closed Sunday and public holidays. Please see www.bng.bm for more details.Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art Melissa Wishart, the Artist in Residence, is showcasing her oil paintings of Bermuda. The exhibit features scenery, landscapes and people in landscapes across the Island. She has been painting scenes from Reid Street, to John Smith’s Bay and sunsets in St George’s. Lynn Morrell will be displaying ‘Works from the Ace Collection’ from October 23 to January 31, 2013. Lynn Morrell is one of the principle figures in contemporary Bermudian craft. Her work is rooted in the world of nature, exploring the experience of the world around her both in its physicality and her inner response to it. Groups telephone 295-5200.Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard ‘Wet’ includes member artists rendition of the word wet. It includes a variety of artistic mediums, sizes and levels of creativity. A solo exhibit by Nahed Eid called ‘Fun and Harmony’ includes a variety of mixed media and fun hand made jewellery, is also on offer. The centre is open seven days a week from 10am until 5pm. From October 27 to November 9, there will be a series of workshops focusing on Botanical Art with visiting artist and teacher Margaret Best. This will include a number of workshops, including one on exciting new techniques in coloured pencil on October 27 and 28, and the opening of an exhibition of members' work in the Edinburgh Gallery.
