Awards for Bermuda Government trainees

Environment Minister Walter Roban handed out awards from Government’s Professional and Technical Trainee Scheme at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.The initiative intends to give young Bermudians opportunities for professional training not available in the private sector, giving them an annual salary and other benefits of full-time employment. It’s hoped this will prepare them for highly skilled progressive careers and help fill senior management positions in the Civil Service.Those who completed their training and received awards this week were:Sarai Belboda, human resource officer in the Department of Human Resources;Quincy Burgess, former superintendent horticulture in the Department of Parks;Wendy Greenridge, junior Crown counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers;Regina Ferguson, estates surveyor in the Ministry of Government Estates and Information Services;Karen King, junior Crown counsel in the Department of Public Prosecutions;Anthoni Lightbourne, first class branch pilot in the Department of Marine and Port Services;J Nicholas Maynard, first class branch pilot in the Department of Marine and Port Services;Kendrea Place, litigation manager in the Department of Prosecutions;Wendy Pond, management accountant in the Accountant General’s Department;George Shakir, assistant planner in the Department of Planning;Shawn Spencer, process controller at Tynes Bay Waste Management;Jennifer Stervinou, formerly legal consultant at the Registry General Department;Jason Stovell, process controller at Tynes Bay Waste Management;Tawana Tannock, junior Crown counsel in the Department of Public Prosecutions;Vanessa Turner, designate civil engineer with the Department of Operations and Engineering;Deanna Warren, currently preparing to begin as a management accountant.
