<Bz37>Golf drivers, necklaces, iPods ... and a little bit of peace and happiness
With Christmas just around the corner and people flocking to shops to buy that last minute gift, some stopped to tell The Royal Gazette <$>what they hoped they would see under the Christmas tree. The answers, as reporter Mikaela Ian Pearman found out were surprisingly diverse — ranging from happiness and peace to a new golf driver.
JP Furey, 25, of Pembroke, said he wanted an iPod nano for Christmas.
“Maybe a red one because the money goes towards HIV and AIDS. I want one to listen to music while exercising and working.”
Apple will be donating $10 from every special edition iPod red nano purchase to the global fund to fight AIDS in Africa.
His friend Paul Campeau, 27, of Southampton, wanted golf clubs. “A Callaway driver for golfing baby,” he said.
While those two wanted objects, Selo Supurgeci, 57, of Southampton, wanted “a nice vacation”. When asked where, he said “somewhere where there is sun”.
Dyan Cormier of Pembroke didn’t want anything for herself. “A little more harmony, a little less materialism and a whole lot of goodwill,” she said.
Leslie Ming of Hamilton Parish had big plans for his Christmas present this year.
“I want Santa Claus to bring me $1 million this year. Anyone would love that.” His friend Dr. Vincent Bridgewater of Hamilton had a similar yet different answer.
“I want peace, happiness and another million”, he laughed.
Sixteen-year-old Waynette Smith had an interesting view on Christmas. “I don’t want anything. Christmas is for giving not receiving.”
Janell Castle, 20, of Southampton, had a simple wish. “I want a gold necklace with a heart”.
The most interesting request cam from 21-year-old Jovan Whitter of Hamilton Parish.
“ I want my car fixed for free. I just want my car fixed”.
He explained he had wrecked a car and needed to pay for the damage.
