Some of the Island’s best known musicians have joined forces to launch a new reggae band called The Yellow Brick Road.Singer Mitchell (Live Wires) Trott will be performing lead vocals; with ‘Juice’ Roberts on guitar; Kevin (Aswad) Wilson on percussion; James Richardson and Larry (Cocky) Steede on the keyboard; Sidney (Yendis) Simmons playing the bass; and Leroy Francis rocking the drums.The band will be touring at various venues Island-wide in a bid to revive the local entertainment scene.Their next performances will be at the St George’s Dinghy Club on Friday; Young Men’s Social Club on June 7; Bermuda College on June 14 and Devonshire Recreation Club on June 21. Tickets for each concert are $10 at the door.Mr Richardson said they wanted to keep the ticket price down ast many people are strained financially during these tough economic times.He said: “We believe that good music is good for the soul. We hope that by keeping the price affordable, more people will come out, relax and enjoy what we have to offer.”The band’s motto is ‘Together We Go’; Mr Richardson said it reflects their belief that by working in unison artists can improve the “ailing entertainment industry”.“By working together and bringing our individual talents to bear, we are rebuilding our robust culture of local music and entertainment.
