In beating James, Mello knocked off a 13-year-old junior sensation who regularly whips Island adults. Mello was two up before James closed to within one on the 16th.

Bennett, 17, defeated Charles Markey 3 and 1 to advance to the final against Mello.

In the consolation final, Chris Smith will meet Colin Brown in the final.

Fraser Hunt and Matthew Durrant each won easily to set up the First Flight final. The Second Flight final will pit Eric West against David Boyce.
