Top Ten Employers to add diversity award

The RG Business Top Ten Employers is marking its tenth anniversary by introducing a new partner and a new “Diversity and Inclusion Award” that all entrants are eligible to win.

The event has evolved since its debut in 2009 into the island’s most prominent award recognising organisations for their excellence as employers.

While the foundation of the survey will remain the same, there will be an added focus with the Bermuda Human Resource Association joining the team of partners for the awards programme for the first time.

PwC Bermuda has been with the awards as title sponsor for eight years, providing overall support and helping it become a successful annual breakfast celebration of Bermuda’s best employers.

The results from the RG Business Top Ten Awards are 100 per cent data based and calculated by Global Research (www.globalresearch.bm), Bermuda’s leading agency in market research.

Leslie Steede, Global Research’s director, said: “Both employees and management complete surveys that assess employment satisfaction across various areas such as employment benefits, career growth opportunities, communication and overall employee satisfaction.”

Bermuda Human Resource Association is joining the team of partners for the awards programme for the first time.

Krystle DeSilva, the president of the BHRA, said: “In the past few years, we have seen a shift in the workplace expectations from candidates and employees. No longer are individuals focusing on basic benefits and work-life balance.

“With companies being increasingly influenced by a globalised marketplace, the value proposition has shifted for the workforce to include a variety of benefits, corporate goodwill, diversity, recognition, inclusion, total rewards — the list goes on.

“With this ever-changing corporate environment, diversity and inclusion are focal points that every company should embrace to remain competitive. The BHRA is excited to introduce a special award that will be an additive to the top ten.

“Any company that participates in the top ten is eligible to win the ‘BHRA Diversity and Inclusion Award’. We have partnered alongside RG Business and PwC to develop the questions that will be asked, ensuring that the right data is collected to determine the deserving company of this award.”

The RG Business Top Ten Awards are now open to entries and encourage companies of all industries to participate.

Michael Grier, commercial director of RG Business, said: “There is no cost to participate, but the results can be extremely valuable.

“We have seen previous winners experience better talent acquisition and those who didn’t make the top ten come back later after internal audits and find themselves achieving higher scores.

“It’s a great opportunity for companies to stop and take a look how they measure up and compete for the best talent when it comes to best practices in human resources.”
