Douglas and Darrell in top form for Cuts

Willow Cuts, 341 all out, beat PHC, 150 all out, by 191 runsSomerset Cup Match hopefuls Chris Douglas and Deunte Darrell put PHC’s bowling attack to the sword yesterday at PHC Stadium as Willow Cuts beat PHC.Douglas and Darrell put on 72 and 73 respectively to put the side in prime position to score a total that would put the game beyond their hosts, posting 341 before being bowled out.No boundary was safe with Douglas, who opened the batting for the visitors along with Joshua Commissiong (20), belting six fours in his innings, while Darrell helped himself to four fours in his stroke filled innings. The pair came together with the score on 47 for two and blasted their way to 176 before both were out in quick succession. There was no respite for PHC, however, as another Cup Match player showing form at the right time, Malachi Jones, blasted a quick fire 50 to help keep the scoreboard ticking along.Keishon Wilson, Lamar Richardson and Kevin Tucker both grabbed two wickets apiece, albeit for some expensive returns in their final figures. The PHC response was futile as only Chris Foggo stepped up to provide any real resistance, and to possibly put his name in the running for being selected to the St. George’s side for the two-day spectacle.Foggo opened the batting in the run chase and scored 64 while watching wickets fall around him early and often. His day ended when he was the eighth wicket to fall with the score on 125, and the match well beyond his side’s reach.Only Khiry Furbert (14) and tail ender Kevin Tucker (18) managed to get into double digits with the eventual winners prolonging the inevitable by wasting a few overs experimenting with a few ideas.George O’Brien jr. led the bowling attack for Cuts with three wickets, with Jones, Darrell, and Kevon Fubler grabbing two wickets apiece in the win.The loss leaves PHC staring relegation squarely in the face, although the Southampton Rangers results will still give them belief that they can off the bottom of the table.Devonshire Rec. currently hold onto the final spot above the dreaded drop, 13 points clear of PHC and 14 ahead of Rangers.
