Bike rider has foot sewn back on after road smash
A 26-year-old bike rider lost his foot following a crash with a car last week but doctors were able to sew it back on, Police have confirmed.
The man was badly injured when his bike was in collision with the car at Barnes Corner, Southampton, at 7.35 a.m. last Tuesday.
?It appears that the foot was severed and that doctors were able to reattach it,? said Police spokesman Robin Simmons yesterday.
Police said the bike rider travelled west on Middle Road, when he struck a car as it turned right from South Shore Road onto Middle road heading towards Hamilton.
The car turned ?into the path of the cycle?, Police said.
Police said that by Friday the man, whose name has not been released, was in a stable condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after being transferred out of the intensive care ward.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact PC Arthur Dill at Hamilton Police Station: 295-0011.
