Police were out in force over the weekend as part of their campaign to clampdown on poor driving.

Officers targeted bars and clubs to deter revellers from drink driving.

The high profile Police presence was ordered in the wake of two roads deaths in the space of a week.

The death toll was added to on Sunday morning when 20-year-old Alshe Caisey of St. George's died after the bike on which was a passenger lost control and crashed on North Shore Road, Smith's.

Police and the Ministry of Transport announced last week they would have "zero tolerance" of bad driving and would not let sloppy and dangerous driving become an accepted part of Bermudians' culture.

Over the weekend, the Police Support Unit was out in force around bars and clubs in Hamilton.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines told The Royal Gazette yesterday: "It wasn't a specific crackdown, but we heightened our presence on the roads and near licensed liquor premises.

"The Police Support Unit was out and about checking licensed liquor premises and hot spots around the Island."
