Madeiros plead not guilty to currency charges
charges, pleaded not guilty yesterday to taking over $200,000 out of Bermuda without the permission of the Monetary Authority.
Madeiros entered his pleas to the 14 separate offences at the monthly arraignments before Puisne Judge the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward in Supreme Court.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between December, 1988 and December, 1990.
The 64-year-old attorney, who is represented by Mr. Richard Hector QC, will appear for mention on April 5.
Madeiros was found guilty on January 21 of stealing more than $500,000 from former client Mr. Boyd Davis, while managing his finances.
A 27-year-old Sandys man will be sentenced on February 19 after the Crown accepted his guilty plea on robbery charges.
Randolph Anthony Simons admitted robbing SKB Coatings employee Miss Lisa Roberts of the company's $10,000 payroll with an imitation firearm on October 9 last year.
Miss Roberts is the daughter of the deputy leader of the Progressive Labour Party, Mr. Walter Roberts.
Lawyer for the Kitchener Close resident, Mr. Delroy Duncan, requested a social inquiry report because he believed his client was under the influence of "certain substances'' at the time of the offence.
Simons was remanded in custody until sentencing.

A 38-year-old Southampton man who pleaded not guilty to three indecency charges was released on bail yesterday until he appears for mention next month.
The man was charged with the indecent assault of a girl under 14 years of age, as well as two counts of committing an act of indecency on a child under 14.
The alleged offences took place between May 1, 1988 and October 1, 1988.
A 28-year-old Southampton man denied charges that he raped a woman on July 21 last year.
The man, who is represented by Mr. Philip Perinchief, will appear again for mention next month.
Also appearing for arraignment were two Devonshire men, Sinclair Eugene Samuels of Cedar Park Road and Quinton Craig King of Hermitage Road, who both pleaded not guilty to charges of importing and handing cannabis on July 12 last year.
Samuels, 25, also denied a charge of possessing the drug on the same date. He and King, 26, will appear for mention next month.
A 29-year-old Warwick man also pleaded not guilty to similar drugs charges.
Curtis Ambrose Simmons of Forest Hill Drive denied importing, possessing and handling cannabis on February 15, 1992. His trial date will be set when he appears in court for mention on March 1.
Hubert Nathaleston Spence of Smith's Parish pleaded not guilty to charges that he imported cocaine into the Island on October 15 last year, and knowingly handled and possessed the drug on November 6.
The 57-year-old Verdmont Valley Close resident's bail was set at $20,000 with one like surety.
New York resident Edwin Santiago, who yesterday pleaded guilty to charges of importation and possession of cocaine, will be sentenced this Thursday.

"This is not an indefinite adjournment,'' said Puisne Judge the Hon. Justice Ground while granting the adjournment. "He will be brought to trial ill or not.'' The man will appear for mention March 1 "with a view to setting a trial date''.
Michael Wayne Brown's trial on drug charges will begin on April 12. Brown is charged with drug possession with intent to supply and possession of drug equipment. The offences are alleged to have occurred on October 25.
The Berkeley Road, Pembroke, resident has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Brown, 30, was remanded in custody.
