Warwick Archers Bows will be aiming to defend their title tonight when they meet Somerset Trojans in the third annual Gregory Grimes Under-13 Tournament at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence starting at 8pm.

The Bows comfortably defeated FC Bascome Blue 6-0 in the semi-final, with six different scorers after Jayce Donawa starting off the scoring with the opening goal in the first minute of play. Nayan Grant, NiZeki Outerbridge, Elijah Bean, Nate Snelling, and Xahvi DeRosa were also on the scoresheet.

Somerset were also big winners, overcoming Dandy Town 5-1 in the other semi-final match. Qu'ran Raynor and Daion Swan-DeSilva each scored twice for Somerset with Zanjay Brown adding the fifth. Gian Christopher scored the lone goal for Dandy Town.

Vasco da Gama will take on North Village Reds in the Plate Final at 6.30pm. Sa-qui Robinson scored twice to lead North Village into the finals with a 2-0 victory over Warwick Archers Arrows. After a 2-2 draw, Vasco overcame St David’s 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out. Keori Binns Leverock put the East Enders in the lead, before goals from Logan Viera and Masaki Kitade put Vasco in front before the half. DeMiyaz Trott equalised for St David’s in regulation time.

The first annual Charles Marshall Cup for under-17 players is under way and will reach the semi-finals tomorrow at Goose Gosling Field where PHC will play Somerset at 3pm and top seeds Warwick Archers will take on North Village at 6.30.

The six-team tournament began with a five-week round-robin stage. The final will be played next Wednesday at the National Sports Centre at noon, before the Dudley Eve Trophy final between Devonshire Cougars and Dandy Town.

The Leonard Holder Under-15 final will be held on January 2 before the Player Development League final. Warwick Archers Bows will be looking to retain their title when they take on PHC in a repeat of last season’s final.

PHC were comfortable 5-0 winners over North Village in the semi-final. Nyrico Swan scored twice for the Zebras, while the other goals came from Hayden Dill, Shavon Nisbett and Ngozi Robinson. Warwick Archers Bows defeated FC Bascome 3-1 in the other semi-final. Chance Eve scored a brace, with the other goal coming from Sachiel Ming. The only goal for FC Bascome was scored by Enoch Joseph.

Somerset Trojans overcame Vasco da Gama 3-0 in the first plate semi-final match. Jadon Simmons scored twice for Trojans, with the third goal coming from Kee-zai Cann. The second plate semi-final saw Dandy Town beat Devonshire Colts 6-2. Kenaze Cann, Aaron Estravitz and Jazai Swanall scored two goals each. A’niaz Outerbridge and Ishmael Naylor netted for Colts.

Grimes and Holder were two former football officials who died eight months apart — Grimes in December 2016 and Holder in August 2017.

Grimes was a former referee and executive of the Bermuda Football Association, including serving as second vice-president.

Holder was a Fifa referee instructor and a former president of Devonshire Colts.
