Cacace strikes hat-trick for Budgies
Budgies defeated Longtails 4-3 in the Women’s A League thanks to a Francesca Cacace hat-trick last weekend.
Katelyn Miller scored Budgies other goal, while Selina Whitter and a brace from Maya Palacio accounted for Longtails’ goals.
In the Women’s B League, Ravens were victorious against Budgies with a 3-2 win. Carolyn Soares, Ana Abend and Alex Wheatley scored for Ravens, while Francesca Cacace and Jaselle Smith were on target for Budgies.
Swallows took a 2-0 lead against Canaries but were pegged back and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Goals from Elizabeth Stewart put Swallows two goals up, but Canaries drew level through efforts from Kirstie Jones and Grace Edy.
Bluebirds and Ravens played out to a 1-1 draw in the final game of the season for both teams.
Bluebirds opened the scoring through Jill Finnigan in the first half but Megan Troake equalised for Ravens after the break.
Wildcats enjoyed a 2-1 victory against Longtails. Wildcats’ Suzanne Moniz collected a long ball, driving it into the circle before firing it home into the top right-hand corner from the penalty spot
In the second half, Longtails pulled a goal back through Maha Clarke who placed her shot into the corner of the net. Wildcats’ Pier Simons struck the winner with a field goal.
