Portion control will be key
His newly-washed jeans are no longer tight and eating breakfast has become a routine.
No longer comfortable to watch TV from his couch, David Paynter is running on the treadmill as he watches the "Biggest Loser."
That is why after a week on the Live Healthy Bermuda 100 Day Challenge, this father has lost ten pounds.
Catching up with him on Wednesday, David said he has been overwhelmed by the support, which helps him continue in the challenge. He said: "My wife is doing it and so is one of my colleagues so I have support. People on the street have been saying congratulations for going at it and going for it.
"I have had emails from over seas and phone calls with just a lot of support. It is totally inspirational and gets me focused."
David is a manager for Great Things, which means he is rarely home before 7 p.m., but still finds an hour to run on his treadmill at home.
The difficulty he has found is implementing the portion control he needs to follow. Though he has introduced breakfast, every morning, other meals are not as easy.
That's why he tries to snack throughout the day on healthy food such as almonds, rather than huge lunches which used to make him feel sluggish.
But keeping him on the healthy eating and portion control is his exercise regime.
He said: "It works well for me to work out in the evenings. I have had the treadmill for a while and it used to go in stages where it was getting used and now it's as regular as watching TV.
"I guess after working out you feel good and you don't want to slam down a big cheese burger cause you just worked out. That's really helpful."
