Keith and Kenneth Williams, 31, of Fairfield Close, Hamilton Parish, both denied the charges.

Kenneth also pleaded not guilty to obstructing Police on January 21 in Hamilton Parish. However, he admitted to a slew of traffic offences.

Both men will face trial on August 31 for the charges involving Mr. Gibbons.

And while Senior Magistrate Will Francis granted them $500 bail each, he ordered them to have no contact with the alleged victim.

Kenneth will also have to return to court on August 4 for trial on the obstruction charge.

And he will have to pay $1,450 in fines for the traffic offences. Crown counsel Charmaine Smith told Mr. Francis that just after 3 a.m. on August 23, 1986 Police stopped Williams on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish after seeing him riding erratically.

He told Police his name was Keith Williams and when an officer who knew the brothers confronted him, he said: "You got me.'' Police noted his breath smelled strongly of alcohol and he was unsteady on his feet.

Williams admitted he had been drinking and provided a breath sample at Hamilton Police Station.

He was found to have 96 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Williams also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, making false statements, and riding an unlicensed cycle. Mr. Francis ordered Williams to pay $400 for riding while disqualified and banned him from driving all motor vehicles for 12 months.

He received an identical and concurrent ban for riding while impaired and was fined $350.

Williams will also pay $300 for making false statements to Police and $400 for riding an unlicensed motorcycle. He was also ordered to return to Mr. Francis' courtroom on Monday to prove the cycle had insurance.

There were ripples of laughter in the courtroom gallery when Williams asked Mr. Francis to allow him to pay the fines at the "end of August''.

When Mr. Francis told him he would have less money for Cup Match, Williams said: "Oh, I meant next year.''
