Chicken thief fined $300
yesterday -- for stealing from his cousin's freezer.
Cann, serving with the Bermuda Regiment, sneaked into his cousin's garage in Warwick Park and stole an $8.95 box of chicken pieces on April 12 last year.
The 22-year-old, of Horseshoe Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty and was handed a four-month suspended sentence, plus the fine.
He will re-appear at Magistrates' Court on August 18 on charges of stealing $188 worth of chicken and cookies from the same house, on two occasions.

FAULTY VALVE SPARKS FLOODING FIR Faulty valve sparks flooding A faulty toilet bowl valve caused flooding in a Devonshire residence early yesterday morning.
Five firefighters responded to the incident at the home on Cedar Park Road around 12.15 a.m.
They used vacuuming equipment to clean up the flooding which covered a six-feet, by eight-feet area of the bathroom.
TRUCK DRIVER TO BE PROSECUTED AC CTS Truck driver to be prosecuted Police intend to prosecute a truck driver after a collision with a cycle at the junction of Church and Middle roads in Southampton.
A spokesperson said the cycle was apparently travelling west on Middle Road, approaching the junction with Church Road, as the truck was turning into Church Road.
The cycle rider suffered a broken leg and a deep cut to the chin. He was detained in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The truck driver suffered cuts and lacerations from a broken windscreen and both vehicles were extensively damaged.
