Hartwig and Bruton win 13-18 ‘Round the Grounds’ title

Nate Hartwig and Paige Bruton won the KPMG ‘Round the Grounds’ Boys and Girls 13 to 18 years old age group yesterday at the Botanical Gardens.More than 650 children took to the course to compete for top honours in their respective divisions in the 14th edition of the popular race.Hartwig completed the 2.1 mile distance for the seniors in 13 minutes, 19.6 seconds, while Akim Johnston (14:54.4) and Josh Hardtman (15:15.7) rounded out the top three for the boys division.Bruton won the girls section, clocking in a time of 15 minutes, 37.9 seconds, with Amaya Foy (17:37.4) and J’Auna James (21:10.7) finishing second and third respectively.“It was a good race and I’m happy to win this event, I just ran my race and it was enough to win so I’m pleased,” said Hartwig.Bruton added: “I’m happy that I won, it was pretty tough but once I ran the first lap it was easier to run my race.”The event, sponsored by KPMG and supported by the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club, Bermuda Track and Field Association and Bermuda Timing Systems, saw a record breaking field attend the annual event.In the nine to ten age group, Ryan Outerbridge claimed top honours, with Robert Thomas and Jalen Commissiong claiming second and third respectively.The girls title went to Seiah Tuzo who beat out Jessie Marshall and Holly Bruton to win the division.In the eight year old division, Remy Coddington won the boys category ahead of Yari Tucker and Cody Robinson, while Jade Johnston outlasted Teysah-Mahle Astwood and Yasmine Smith to claim the girls title.Paris Mitchell-Robinson beat Jayson Simons and Tre Burgess to the finish line to win the seven year old boys division, and Asia-Leigh Hollis won the girls section with Xienne Burch and Jahstice Grant finishing second and third respectively.Zano Tucker won the boys six year old category, with Enrique Mendes and Maximilian Reid taking the other two podium place, while I’Aura Golding won the girls division ahead of Katherine Bean-Rosario and A’Maya Dill.Five year old girls honours went to Esi Naylor. Mojen Judd and Flora Betts came second and third respectively.Malachai Belboda won the boys section, while Nahki Deshields and Daqaio Stewart round out the top three.Four year old honours went to Brooke Castree who beat Jaya Postlethewaite, and Shantia Berkeley to the tape in the girls division, while Diyahsal Deshield won the boys category ahead of Kenori Simons and Syhon-Dakarai Goater.
