Stealing package of mints cost 10 days in prison
A man was jailed for 10 days for stealing mints from a grocery store.
Don-Kirk Simmons appeared in Magistrates' Court on Friday to answer to a theft charge.
The court heard from Crown counsel Larissa Burgess that on April 1 Simmons was seen by a staff member attempting to leave Lindos Warwick store after he had stuffed something under his jacket.
He was stopped by the manager at the door and asked if he had paid for any purchases. Simmons said 'yes' and pushed past the manager to get out the door.
The 45-year-old man was stopped by the manager and taken to the office where a pack of Fox's Glacier mints was removed from his jacket by Police who had been called to the store.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Simmons $100 for the offence.
Simmons is currently serving time for another offence and asked Mr. Warner if he could attach the default time of 10 days to his current sentence to which Mr. Warner agreed.
