But the person he pretended to be was wanted by Police.

Police caught schoolboy Wilbur Smith, 18, racing in a group of motorcyclists at about midnight on October 9 on Point Finger Road, prosecutor Sgt. Earl Kirby said.

He was arrested when he gave them the wrong name and was taken to Hamilton Police Station due to two outstanding arrest warrants for the person.

They subsequently learned Smith had given a false name and was off the road.

Smith pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and giving false statements.

After hearing that Smith had four past offences for driving while disqualified, a frustrated Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis asked: "What will it take to get the message across?'' He told the court he had disqualified people from driving who had later died in road accidents.

Mr. Francis said he felt Smith needed a "wake-up call'' and handed down a three-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He also fined him $200, put him off the road for 18 months and fined him $100 for making false statements to Police.
