Teenager arrested after high-speed Police chase

Police arrested a 17-year-old following a high speed chase at the weekend. At around 3.40 p.m. on Sunday Police conducting laser speed checks on Trimingham Hill spotted a black Toyota jeep travelling south at 110km/h.

Two Police on motorcycles tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to comply and sped toward the City of Hamilton. The chase continued up Spurling Hill, with the driver of the jeep narrowly missing a pedestrian.

After colliding with a wall near Roxdene Lane the driver continued his attempted getaway along Pitts Bay Road and on to Rosemont Avenue, where the jeep collided with a parked car. The passengers and driver of the car then attempted to escape on foot. As a result a 17-year-old-boy was arrested.

It was later confirmed that the jeep was stolen. Police are asking for anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
