Edward Clarence Butterfield, 36, of Seawall Drive in Pembroke, was fined $220 for speeding on a motorcycle on April 20 of last year.

In addition, he was fined $250 for riding a bike while it was unlicensed, $1,000 for having no insurance and $100 for not having a valid driver's licence.

And he was disqualified from riding motorcycles for six months.

Butterfield again did not have a valid driver's licence when he was stopped on January 9 for speeding in a car at 66 kilometres per hour and this cost him another $100 plus a $220 speeding fine as well as a six month disqualification from driving cars.

Butterfield told the Court he had rent to pay as well as three kids to support and asked for time to pay his fines.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told him to pay on or before June 6.

MILLS NOT QUITTING GVT Mills not quitting The rumour mill was put to rest over the weekend with top civil servant Leopold Mills saying he has not retired but will by the end of the year.

Under Government rules, a dwindling number of civil servants are still eligible to retire at age 55, which Mr. Mills said was an option he is "fully intending to exercise''.

Due to reach his 56th birthday next January, Mr. Mills said he has not tendered his resignation nor did he intend to prematurely.

Mr. Mills said: "I have not resigned and I have not yet retired. I'm one of the few civil servants who have the option to retire before one's 56th birthday.'' POLICE PROBE FIGHT CRM Police probe fight Police are investigating a bottle fight which erupted outside a Middletown Lane, Pembroke, residence last Wednesday afternoon.

The 41-year-old complainant said he was outside his home at 3.30 p.m. when he approached a young man about an incident the night before.

After a scuffle, the older man turned his back and was then hit with a bottle wielded by the younger attacker's accomplice while the attacker also hurled a bottle at him.

Police reported no injuries.
