Man's licence expired -- in 1984
had not had time to renew it.
Andre Roach, 33, admitted on Friday to driving on North Shore Road in Devonshire at 69 kph and driving a car while not holding a valid licence.
Junior Crown Counsel Veronica Gordon said his licence had expired in 1984.
But Roach said work commitments had prevented him from updating it since then.
"I work seven days a week and I fish nights so I haven't had time to get it renewed,'' he said.
Asked to explain his high speed he said: "It was raining and I was trying to get out of the bad weather. It was a straight stretch of road and I got caught because Police were hiding in the trees.'' Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined Roach $600 and disqualified him from driving motorcycles for 12 months.
"You cannot be this cavalier with the law,'' he told Roach.
