Satinah Furbert is top of her class

Satinah Furbert

At the Temple University commencement exercises, held on May 19, 2005, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Satinah Doniqua Furbert, daughter of Donna Furbert, of Warwick, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Summa Cum Laude.

Satinah was the recipient of the undergraduate Academic Excellence Award for obtaining the highest cumulative grade point average of 3.88. She was also awarded the Nursing Faculty Recognition Award for outstanding academic achievement for having the highest GPA in the Nursing Curriculum.

Prior to attending Temple University, Satinah graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. At Hampton she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.82 and was inducted into many honour societies due to her academic achievements.

Satinah is also a graduate of Bermuda College where she obtained her Associate Degree in Arts degree with distinction in 1996. Previously she had attended Berkeley Institute where she was an honour student.

Satinah is thankful and appreciative of the financial awards she has received which has enabled her to pursue her educational goals. She was the recipient of the Bermuda Government scholarship in 1996, as well as scholarships from the Bermuda Hospitals Board, the Nursing Council, the Bermuda Health Foundation and TB, Cancer and Health.

Upon returning to Bermuda later this year, Satinah plans to enter the nursing field to begin her career. She hopes to make a difference and anxiously anticipates giving back to her community.
