Accident victim considers suing motorist who ran her down

A badly injured woman has slammed a motorist she claims mowed her down in the street but has never bothered to contact her since.

Saudia Virgil, 39, said she is still in pain and expects to be months in recovery following the accident on Somerset Road on April 14.

She wants the motorist to pay for nursing help until she is able to look after herself and is now considering suing him after saying Police are being slow to launch a prosecution.

Ms Virgil said the accident happened at lunchtime and she could not understand why the motorist did not see her as she walked on the roadside near Somerset Police station.

?The car came toward me, struck me and carried me down the road, face down, and broke every bone in my leg,? she said. ?I asked him when I was lying in the road ? ?How could you not see me??

?The man has not contacted me since to say he?s sorry. It?s been two weeks. I am in iron rods.

?They say I could have been paralysed and my toes are still floppy.?

Ms Virgil also broke a rib in the accident.

She said she is on Financial Assistance because of epilepsy. ?Even when I leave the hospital I cannot go home because it has 16 steps,? she added.

Ms Virgil said her church is trying to help her out but she believes the driver should pay for her care.

?I am thinking about suing him,? she said.
