Pharmacy held their own in the first half and trailed Metro by just 27-20 at half-time.

In the second half, however, Metro's experience proved decisive as they pulled away to win 70-42.

H.Davidson scored 15 points and U.Richardson 14 for Metro, while Pharmacy's L.Matthews got 12.

Somerset Rebels and Dream Team had a tough battle, with Rebels finally winning out 53-50.

For Dream Team, who had several of their regular players missing, it was the first ever loss in an opening game of the season.

Somerset's three-point field goal shooting led them to victory, with G.Crockwell the top scorer with 13.

T.Stevens and G.Douglas both put 11 points on the board for Dream Team.

In other action on Tuesday, Cable Vision got the better of Young Guns by a score of 63-54.

On Wednesday, Somerset followed up their surprise win over preseason favourites Dream Team with a workmanlike performance in their 56-28 triumph against Warwick Academy.

No match for the size and strength of the Somerset team, the Warwick youngsters were helpless against the onslaught. Somerset were led by K.Stovell with 15 points and B.Smith, who had 12. Jazine Smith contributed nine for the leaders and R.Scott six.

Meanwhile Dream Team rebounded from their opening game loss to trounce Fire Services by 18 points with V.Lambe leading the charge, pouring in 14 points and adding five rebounds. D.Richards also got into the act scoring 12 and snatching seven boards.

Dream Team controlled from start to finish, never allowing their opponents to get on track.

In the remaining game, St. George's held off Peoples Pharmacy for a well earned 56-53 win.

J.Eastmond of St. George's had a field day producing 23 points and six rebounds to offset 14 by counterpart Lou Matthews, who registered 14 points and seven rebounds.
