Machete attack case ends as a mistrial

The trial of a man charged with a machete attack ended yesterday after Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaved declared a mistrial.Ahijah Dill, 27, has denied charges of wounding Miguel Swan with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and having a bladed article in an increased penalty zone.Both charges relate to an incident which occurred on January 21 outside the Leopards Club in Hamilton.Mr Swan required surgery after he suffered injuries to his back and right arm in the incident.The circumstances which led to the mistrial cannot be identified for legal reasons, but the matter is expected to return to Supreme Court later this month. Mr Dill’s bail was extended until then.Mr Dill was represented by Saul Dismont, while Takiyah Burgess represented the Crown.
